Vacationing in Prague

We had 4 days in Prague, which is our longest trip yet but it was so nice to have extra time.  We didn't need to pack everything in a small window of time.  It was very relaxing and we all felt like it was a vacation!

On Sunday we woke up early (even though I didn't think it was necessary; there's plenty of time to do everything and sleep!) So we started off going to Prague Castle.  Personally, I think it's better to look at from a far.  It is the biggest castle but up close you can't see the length- only each individual building, which looks just like a big building.  The fact that is was pouring rain didn't help either.  After the castle, we obvioulsy had down time so I took a quick snooze.  Then we headed to lunch.  Everyone was getting ham and sausage from the stand on the street.  I packed a cream cheese bagel from Bohemia Bagel.

Then we went to Prague Beer Museum (Pub).  It is not a museum like I thought.  It's a pub with 30 Czech beers on tap.  The 6 of us decided to share the whole sampler which was .15 l of each beer.  The boys had to drink most.  There were three interesting beers - chocolate (smelled so good, tasted bad); blueberry, and grapefruit (the best).

On Sunday we also went to the Jewish Museum.  It consists of 5 synagogue and the cemetery.  Spanish Synagogue shows life for Czech Jews before, during, and after the Holocaust.  The Pinkus synagogue has the exhibit of children's drawings from the holocaust and names of victims written on the wals.  It was unbelievable seeing the entire walls filled.  The Klausen synagogue explains the religion of Judaism including traditions and rituals.  The Jewish Cemetery was so interesting to see the number of gravestones.  There's 12,000 gravestones but number of people buried exceeds 100,000.  It was the only place Jews could be buried therefore they had to bury on top of each other up to 10 layers deep.  I found this museum very interesting and I think the rest of the group agreed.

For dinner, we went to the nice italian restaurant recommended by Naomi called Ambiente Pasta Fresca.  We all left extremely satisfied and stuffed!  I ordered cheese tortellini in butter.

Prague is definitely my favorite city I visited so far!
