No Such Things as Smooth Travel

On the numerous trips I have gone on, I don't think once I've had a smooth travel; something always comes up.

At a last minute we chose to take a train rather than bus to the airport.  We found cheap train tickets and with this option we didn't have to leave at 2:00 am.

We were cutting things close.  Our flight was at 6:45 and the first train was at 4:59 and took 50 mins so we needed to make it on that train.

We get to the station and the gates are closed except for a small slit.  We walk right in but we're quickly stopped because the station was not open yet.  Luckily we had already purchased tickets.  How could the station not be open if the train leaves in less than 10 minutes.  There were a few construction workers but we were not allowed in because no staff was there.  We were standing outside the station watching the giant clock and each minute passed.  By 4:54 (5 mins before departure) more people had come.  We all needed to get on this train in order to make our flight.

Now at 4:56 as we all are getting extremely nervous, the woman waiting with us just decided to go through.  He can't take all of use down so we ran too.  We made it on the train within seconds of closing.  All of the people waiting to get in the station had made it on the train.  I am grateful others were in the same problem as us especially British adults because we had no idea what to do!

After an unexpected expensive train ride from Zurich Airport we made it to Interlaken!

Our first purchase in Switzerland was to no surprise chocolate.  All I had eaten until 3:00 pm was chocolate.  The chocolate was good.  It was very soft and creamy yet I think i prefer British cadbury chocolate.

I was really happy with the hostel.  We got there and the receptionist said we were upgraded to a room with a bathroom ensuite.  That was exciting news except we thought we reserved a room with a bathroom to start.

Today we went to the grocery store because we wanted to buy lunches and dinners in an attempt to save money.  Immediately we sat down and ate crackers and swiss cheese.  We were starving as it was 3:00 pm and this is the first thing we've eaten beside chocolate.  We were stuffing our faces and people were starring.

It was a cloudy first day but the mountains still look amazing peeping over the clouds.  It is supposed to be sunny the next 2 days so we have a lot of fun activities planned.
